Lose Weight without Counting Calories

Lose weight, without counting calories? Does that sound too good to be true? Well, trust me…it’s not. No need to keep trying one fad diet after another – counting calories, points, carbs, etc.

The simple truth is – you don’t need the latest diet.

You need to make real lifestyle changes.

You need to change the way you view food.

The food you eat can make you energized and healthy, or it can make you fatigued, unhealthy and overweight. By learning good nutrition and cooking techniques, you will have the tools to create the lasting change you want.

Eating a well balanced, plant-based diet is one of the most powerful things you can do for your personal health.

The foundation of this eating pattern is built from whole grains, fruits, vegetables, beans/legumes, nuts/seeds, as well as herbs and spices.

I urge you to follow thr guidelines of Dr. Furhman’s Food Pyramid (pictured above)

Dr. Fuhrman’s food pyramid is based on the principles of high nutrient. Low-calorie, nutrient dense foods are at the base of the pyramid, and high-calorie, nutrient poor foods are at the top.

The base of the pyramid – the foundation of the diet, foods consumed in the highest quantity – should be the foods with the highest ratios of nutrients to calories – these are vegetables.

Ninety percent of the daily diet should be made up of nutrient rich plant foods, whose calories are accompanied by health-promoting phytochemicals: green and other non-starchy vegetables; fresh fruits; beans and legumes; raw nuts, seeds, and avocados; starchy vegetables; and whole grains.

This is not strictly a weight-loss diet – this is a health promoting, disease fighting diet.

Research shows that people who eat plant-based diets have lower weight, reduced risk of chronic diseases, better nutrient intake, reduced risk of food-borne illnesses, lower exposure to dietary contaminants, and very often, better management of chronic health conditions such as high blood pressure, heart disease and diabetes.

Good health really does start in your grocery cart. Make the healthy choices that help you attain your ideal weight and increase the quality of your life.
